When can one expect a sea breeze to occur?

A sea breeze typically occurs in the afternoon of a hot, sunny day due to the difference in temperature between the land and the water. During such conditions, the land heats up more quickly than the sea. As the air over the land warms, it rises, creating an area of lower pressure. The cooler air over the water, which is denser, then moves in to replace the rising warm air, resulting in a breeze that flows from the sea towards the land.

This phenomenon usually peaks in the early to late afternoon when solar heating is at its strongest. In contrast, the other situations mentioned are less conducive to the formation of a sea breeze: in the mornings, the land is generally cooler; in the evenings, the temperature difference decreases; and during storms, other weather patterns can dominate the local wind direction, overshadowing the typical sea breeze effect.
